Trolling Motor Power Needs
A general guideline is 2lbs thrust for every 45kg of boat weight (boat, fuel, occupants, gear). If you fish in wind or strong current, add 10lbs thrust.
Determine Shaft Length
Measure from the top of the bow where the motor is mounted to the water line. Then add 20" to the measurement. The shaft length should be equal to or greater than this sum.
